The Olive Kid‘s program is designed to provide a warm, welcoming environment where our kid can grow from a bundle of joy to a bundle of joy & curiosity. With our focus on creating a loving, healthy & secure place for our Olives, each Olive’s primary caregiver is a trained child development professional who is responsible for critical minute-to-minute caring, play and communication.
Even the youngest of Olives are encouraged to learn about their world through our developmentally appropriate curriculum that invites exploration, celebrates each important developmental milestone and supports the transition from the sensory motor world of infancy to the increasingly social and self directed world of toddlers to a suitably enabled preschooler.
At The Olive Kid, children find a warm home away from home. We approach transitions gently – a child’s first steps outside their first homes are met with bundles of smiles, hugs and conversations timed well as we honour each child’s unique pace.
We understand that reassured parents who are able to trust the facilitators and the learning process are the key to a smoother and quicker ‘settling-in’. So we offer online access to the indoor learning environments during the first quarter for parents’ view.
Children do spend some time outdoors too though, and for questions, we encourage parents to call the facilitators only later in the afternoons, as during the day they are exclusively at play with the children.
We maintain a 1:5 facilitator-to-child ratio. However, as our learning environment is dynamic, all facilitators may not be present in the same space at all times. We also avoid having too many adults around children to ensure a natural and non-intrusive learning environment.
We usually take children on O₂ experiential field trips at least twice a month for meaningful outdoor learning opportunities. Outdoors, curiosity comes alive – children imagine freely, explore boldly, and ‘sense’ the magic of nature. In an open learning space, every leaf, stone, and breeze become invitations for children to explore and discover themselves and their surroundings.
For the nuclear families, we have put together facilities for an after-school extended childcare. We have created a safe, nurturing, and a lively space where children of all ages feel at home and cared for.
We value collaboration as an essential part of our learning process. Partnering with parents allows us to create a cohesive, conducive and a progressive learning experience. By sharing our practices, we enable transparency and align facilitators and parents to together build a strong foundation for each child’s development.
